Spring Term 2012 (Also known as the Dry Season)

It's a new year, it's a new term. Things are moving along strong and joyful at Yoga on True Blue Campus with new and returning students with different needs in body, mind, and soul. I'm honored and delighted to provide this lovely service to these high caliber people!

"If attaining peace of mind were as simple as reminding ourselves to relax whenever we feel agitated, the majority of us would be blissed-out most of the time. Like any other worthwhile skill, though, relaxation takes practice." -Claudia Cummins, Yoga Journal

Various Sunsets During our Yoga Practice...

With the beauty, however, comes biting ants and fearless mosquitoes on our yoga towels... That's the reality.

Fountain of Youth Yoga

I met a lady who owns a yoga studio here called Fountain of Youth Yoga. Her name is Mithsouka (Meeth-SOO-kuh) and she is from Haiti. She is a fabulous yogi and is trained in Iyengar yoga, but is certainly from a different culture than I. She had a couple of non-Grenadian yoga teachers move back to their home countries, so she was desperate enough to hire me! :-) And I thought that was just splendid!

Her studio is gorgeous, but it’s in a pretty nature-ey area. That means rats. And mosquitoes.

But no worries, I’ve only seen one rat turning around on a rafter high up on the ceiling during supta baddha konasana, but no one else seemed to see it because the class continued on normally.

And you just accept that because you are dowsed in bug spray, you get some on your mat too. Serious showering is required after class.

I've met a lot of other students from the school through this studio. It has led me to lots of other great opportunities for teaching.

"Rather than straining to quiet the mind in meditation, simply relax into the quiet that contains the mind." -Yoga Journal article
